Van Lear, Edward

Edward Tilman Van Lear, 70, of Christiansburg, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Catherine Van Lear, of Clifton Forge, Va.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lillian H. Van Lear; sons, Edward Van Lear, II of Christiansburg and Mark Van Lear, of Louisa, Va.; daughter, Amanda Leddy and husband, Harvey, of Eden, N.C.; granddaughters, Rebecca, Rachel, and Hannah Leddy; and grandsons, Tanner Van Lear and Stephen Leddy. Also surviving is a brother, David H. Van Lear and wife, Carolyn; and a sister, Kathryn Neckerman and husband, William, all of Pendleton, S.C.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donald Makin and the Rev. Cheryl Peeples officiating. Internment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg.
