Grayson, Lavinia Randolph

Lavinia Randolph Grayson, 97, of Blacksburg, Va., died on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at Heritage Hall Health Care Center. She was born in Hiteman, Iowa, on June 3, 1911, to the late William and Addie Moore Randolph. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ben M. Grayson; her daughter, Bennajean Walker; and her son, William Grayson. She was a member of the Ester Chapter of Eastern Star, Ottumwa, Iowa; the Albia Women’s Club; and Past Secretary and member of Women’s Society of Christian Service which is now the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she attended Sunday School Class and the Tuesday Morning Bible Seekers. Mrs. Grayson studied to become a practical nurse and worked at the Monroe County Hospital. She moved to Blacksburg and attended and became an associate member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and the Thursday Morning Senior Bible Study Class. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Randolph and Joan Grayson, of Blacksburg; a son-in-law, Royce Walker; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2008, in the Asbury United Methodist Church, Christiansburg with Pastor Lyle Morton officiating. Burial will follow later in Iowa. The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church.
