Shockley, Ruby Groseclose

Mrs. Ruby Groseclose Shockley, 94, of Pulaski, went to be with family and friends on Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was born September 20, 1920 in Saltville, and was the daughter of the late Forrest K. and Mary C. Groseclose. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arland C. Shockley.

Mrs. Shockley graduated from Saltville High School and served in the Army where she photographed battleships coming into port at Newport News. She loved to travel and was always ready to go! She also loved working in her craft shop and gardening. She was a charter member of the Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski.

Surviving are her children and spouses, Donna Shockley Agee and Richard Agee, Huntersvile, N.C., Barbara Shockley Roop, Roanoke, John Harding Shockley and Charlotte Shockley, Bent Mountain; grandchildren and spouse, James Shockley, Bent Mountain, Emily Shockley, Bent Mountain, Carrie R. and Herman Bruno, Huntersville, N.C.; her first great-granddaughter, Sara Grace Bruno; several special nieces; and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Visiting will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour. The family will have a private graveside farewell following the service. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the Raleigh Court Health & Rehab Center and to Carilion Hospice Care of Roanoke for the care they gave Mrs. Shockley.
