Baker, William Allen

TSGT William Allen Baker, retired United States Air Force, 74, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Mr. Baker was born in Draper, Va. on February 24, 1934, to the late Harley O. Baker and Beulah Chumbley Baker.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years and retired with the rank of Technical Sergeant. After his military career, he began working with Ryder and retired with 20 years of service.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with full Military Honors.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 53 years, Minnie Baker; his daughters, Debbie Edwards, of Goldsboro, Donna Brunk and husband, Marlin, of Thaxton, Va., Diana Gagnon and husband, Brent, of Guyton, Ga., and Pam Gulick, of Roanoke; his son, Allen Baker, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; his brothers, Harley O. Baker Jr., John C. Baker and George D. Baker; 10 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Baker for Myelodysplastic Syndrome Research, c/o the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 211 Grant Drive, Goldsboro.
