Prescott, Ralph Wesley
Ralph Wesley Prescott, age 66, of Blacksburg died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Emmerton, Richmond County, Virginia on January 2, 1949 to the late William Wesley and Evelying Clark Prescott.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years Melvene Wallace Prescott. Ralph attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton, Va. from 1954 to 1969. Working for Business Opportunities for The Blind and Deaf he managed the food service at Moog Poly-Scientific for 30 years, from which he retired in 1999. He is well known for his kindness, sense of humor, generosity and love of music.
He survived by his daughter, Virginia Scott Lee, of Midlothian; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Amos Maitri and Cyndi Maitri, of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Brooke Alexandra Lee and Lauren Nicole Lee; half brother and sister-in-law, William and Elaine Clark; special friends Janice Hodge and Kirk Litton, of Christiansburg, Violet and Ronnie Brumfield, of Pembroke.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery for the care that was shown and also a thanks to all the special friends that have helped.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Hopkins, Rev. Sebert Rorrer, and Rev. Bobbie Henley officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Garden, Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, Foundation Board (specify blind students), P. O. Box 2069, Staunton, Va. 24402.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
