Spangler, William Martin

William Martin (Bill) Spangler, 77, of Floyd, Va., departed this life to be with Jesus on Monday, September 28, 2009. Bill served his country 20 years in the United States Air Force, retired from Clark Gas and Oil, and spent the rest of his life farming which he dearly loved.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Vera Martin Spangler; two children, William Larry Spangler and Kimberly Ann Spangler; and one brother, Maxine Spangler, of Salem. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Underwood Spangler; sons, Rodger Dale Spangler and Daniel Mark Spangler and wife, Heather Morrison Spangler; daughter, Genell Spangler Vest and husband, Tim Vest; grandchildren, Charity Vest Nolen and husband, Mitchell Nolen, and Jessica, Elijah, Levi, Josiah, and Jude Spangler; brothers, Joseph G. Spangler and wife, Ann Dollin Spangler, and Vernon Ray Spangler and wife, Janette Salmons Spangler; sister-in-law, Pauline Lyon Spangler; mother-in-law, Alpha Radford; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stephen Lackey officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery with Military Honors by the Floyd VFW Post #7854 and the American Legion Post #127.
