Sheets, Kathleen Lillian Patrick

Kathleen Patrick Sheets, 94, resident of Fairlawn, Va. since 1942, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2008, at the Wheatland Hills Retirement Center, Fairlawn, Va. She was born December 21, 1913, in Washington County, Va., and was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee and Mae Hammond Patrick; brother, William Kermit Patrick; and her beloved husband, Clyde George Sheets. She was a graduate of Saltville High School, Saltville, Va., and attended the National Business College of Roanoke, Va.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Kitty Marie and Charles A. Campbell Jr., of Fairlawn, Va., and June Elizabeth and Robert R. Bruce Sr., of Rural Hall, N.C.; grandchildren, Robert Bruce and wife, Sue S. Bruce, of Rural Hall, N.C., Susan Lynn Rooney and husband, Mark E. Rooney, of Pulaski, Va.; George Anthony Bruce and wife, Pam Bruce, of King, N.C., Edward Alan Campbell, of Fairlawn, Va.; great-grandchildren, Charles Brandon Hughett and wife, Tiffany W. Hughett, of Dublin, Va., Erik Randolph Bruce, of Avon, Colo., Logan McCoy Bruce, of Rural Hall, N.C., Patti Elizabeth Bruce, of King, N.C. and Ryan Anthony Bruce, of King, N.C.; great-great-grandson, Brayden Alexander Hughett, of Dublin, Va.; stepgrandchildren, Jeremy Earl and Heather A. Rooney, of Fort Chiswell, Va., and Ashley Brooke Rooney, of Pulaski, Va.; stepgreat-grandson, Garrett Lane Rooney, of Fort Chiswell, Va. Also surviving are sister-in-laws, Mrs. Edith Gentry, Damascus, Va., Mrs. Margaret Booth, Glade Spring, Va., Mrs. Evelyn Lowery, Glade Spring, Va.; nieces and nephews and special friends.

She was a member of Clinchburg UMC as a child and later moved her membership to Fairlawn UMC where she was an active member of the Threads of Growth Bible Study Group and faithfully attended Sunday school and worship services.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at the Fairlawn United Methodist Church, 7584 Brandon Road, Fairlawn, Va., Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randy Morris and Pastor Joe Mack Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the Fairlawn UMC. Friends may call at the home of Charles and Kitty Campbell, 7606 Carden Drive, Fairlawn. Committal service will be at the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairlawn UMC, 7584 Brandon Road, Fairlawn, Va. 24141. The family is being served by the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va. Granny’s family deeply appreciates the love and friendship shown by the staff and residents of Wheatland Hills, especially Barbara Holstein, Heather, Judith, Becky “Sweet Pea”, Carol “Christmas Carol”, Beverly, Brenda, LaTasha, Ella Mae, Donnie “Carter”, Kim, Martha, and Jeanette, who made Granny’s transition to assisted care more comfortable and secure. Also, Dr. Robert Solomon and staff, Carilion Hospice Care nurses, volunteers and especially care giver, Karen King.
