Harris, Harry Eugene
Harry Eugene Harris, 88, of Blacksburg, died Friday, August 29, 2008, at his home. He was born in Canton, Ohio, on September 13, 1919, to the late Chester G. and Georgia Bell Turner Harris. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin C. Harris; and a half sister, Garnet Taylor.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served as Master Sgt. in World War II from August 6, 1941 until January 5, 1945, and served in the Fiji Islands, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He was a member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Irene Harris, of Blacksburg; son and daughterin-law, Timothy G. and Mary Ann Harris, of Blacksburg; three grandchildren, Katie Ferry and husband, Aaron, of Radford, Kelly Ann Harris and fiance, Timothy Brown, of Christiansburg, and David C. Harris, of Blacksburg; and two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Ferry and Leah Ferry.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley.

Friends may call anytime after noon on Monday, September 1, 2008, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
