Reed, Mary Helen

Mary Helen Reed, 78, of Shawsville, Va., passed away Friday, March 24, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. The widow of the late Thurman Reed, she is survived by children, Kathy Slate and husband, Kermit, Waymond Reed and wife, Donna, Mike Reed, all of Shawsville, Va., Judy Taylor and husband, Bobby, South Carolina; a sister, Stella Akers; a brother, Wilton Rakes; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Ben Whitaker and the Rev. Jim Sutphin with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery.
