Robertson, Nellie Thomas

Nellie Thomas Robertson, 91, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Wheatland Hills. She was born in Floyd County to the late J.A. and Melinda Lancaster Thomas. Nellie was a member of Little River Baptist Church. She was a devoted homemaker and had a tremendous love of flowers. Nellie was also known for her love of God, family, cooking and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, John William Robertson Sr.; sister, Elsie Shank; and three brothers, Raymond, Lafayette and Nelson Thomas.

She is survived by three children and spouses, John Jr. and Wanda Robertson, of Pilot, Anita Jean Robertson, of Stuart, Joe and Linda Robertson, of Floyd; granddaughter and spouse, Alicia and Doug Tiller, of Stuart; sister, Juanita Thomas Church, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and special friends, Bob and Rosie Bishop, of Bassett, Va., and Garfield Radford, of Floyd. She will also be missed by her special friends at Wheatland Hills and her church children.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Allan Vass officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
