Hylton, Charles Douglas

Charles Douglas (Doug) Hylton, 76, of Draper, Va., passed away Monday morning, June 30, 2008, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Christiansburg, Va., on November 22, 1931, and was the son of the late Joshua and Odessa Sutphin Hylton of Salem, Va. He was also preceded into Heaven by his brother, Shannon Curtis Hylton. He was a retired employee of Verizon and was a veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Helen V. Hylton, of Draper; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Diann and Jim Cox, of Wytheville; son, Curtis Deneal (Chuck) Hylton, of Dublin; grandsons, Kelly and his wife, Frankie Meadows, of Wythe County, and SPC4 Army Reserve Christopher Meadows, of Wythe County; two greatgrandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Joshua Jr. and Millie Hylton, of Moneta, Va.; and sisters-in-law and brothers-inlaw, Opal and Don McCambridge, of Hiwassee, Edith and James Thomas, of Dublin, Mildred and James Smith, of Bedford, Pat Viers, of Dublin, Walter and Betty Viers, of Draper, and Pete and Treva Rogers, of Pulaski.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2008, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery, Pulaski County. Visiting will be Thursday evening, July 3, 2008, at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
