Vogt, Leona Belle Lawson

Leona Belle Lawson Vogt, 95, of Narrows went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2014. She was born in Vivian, West Virginia on June 4, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Henry and Myrtle Surratt Lawson.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Chisenhall; her second husband John Vogt; sisters Alma Vogt, Gertrude Blaker and Madeline Porterfield; and brother William (Bill) Lawson. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Leona lived most of her life in Narrows, Virginia. She moved to Dubuque, Iowa with her second husband John Vogt in 1958 but returned to Narrows after his death in 1979. Leona was a sweet person who thought first of others before herself. She lived independently in her parent’s house on Westview until she was 94 years old.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Heritage Hall Rich Creek for their dedicated care and friendship. A special thanks to Pastor John Jenkins and the community of Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church for loving and supporting her for many years, and to Dr. Michael McMahon and Dr. Kenneth Walker for their loving touch, in caring for Leona.

The family will receive friends at Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church, 809 College Street in Narrows Saturday, November 15th, 2014, from 10 to 11 AM, followed by funeral services at 11 AM, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
