Croy, Kermit Lee

Kermit Lee Croy, of Johnson City, Tenn., and formerly of Pembroke, Va., passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Mr. Croy was a proud native of Hoges Store and Pembroke, Va., but lived in Johnson City, Tenn., for over the past 50 years. He was the son of the late Frank Staritt and Agnes Sue Duncan Croy. He was a United States Army Air Corp veteran serving in the 4th Air Force during World War II. Mr. Croy was graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VA Tech). He retired from the Johnson City Power Board following a career of over 30 years. He was a member of the Johnson City First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Perrin Turner Croy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Croy Burgess and her husband, Chad, of Memphis, Tenn., and Ellen Croy Civera and her husband, Glenn, of Cordova, Tenn.; one son and daughter-in-law, Lee Duncan Croy and his wife, Sheryl, of Duluth, Ga.; two sisters, Virginia Meyers, of Pearisburg, Va., and Mary Dell Stevers and her husband, Lindsey, of Pembroke, Va.; one brother, Alvin Croy and his wife, Lucy, of Vinton, Va.; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Jesse and Jarod Burgess, Matthew and Emily Civera and Caroline and Walt Croy; one great-grandson, Jacob Burgess; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was conducted on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park under the direction of Dr. Arnold Lovell and Dr. Baron Eliason.

The family received friends at the MorrisĀ – Baker Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers were selected from family and friends.
