Cherry, Maude C.

Rev. Maude C. Cherry of Parrott, went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2008, at the home of Doris and Leonard Caldwell. She was 85 years old.

She was a member of the Parrott Church of God and an ordained minister with the Church of God for over 60 years. She was born March 31, 1923, in Bowling Green, Ky., to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cherry who preceded her in death along with three brothers.

She is survived by one sister, Mary York, of Bowling Green, Ky.; several nieces and nephews; best friends, Doris and Leonard Caldwell; the Caldwell family; the Hinkley family; her church family; and a host of friends and loved ones from everywhere.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Ruth Stuart, Karen King, Joy Gilmer, Andrea Hanlon and Dr. Tina Smutz for their kind and compassionate care.

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 4 until 9 p.m. at the Parrott Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Parrott Church of God. Officiating will be the Rev. Eddie Dalton, the Rev. David Hagee, the Rev. Robbie Meredith and the Rev. Debra McPeak. Interment will be at the Sifford Cemetery in Parrott, Va. Military Rites at the graveside will be conducted by VFW Post #776.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parrott Church of God Youth Fund, P.O. Box 97, Parrott, Va. 24132. Arrangements are being handled by DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va.
