Farrier, Virginia (Huffman)
Virginia Huffman Farrier, 89, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008. She was born in Newport, Virginia on February 6, 1919 to the late Dr. Frank B. Huffman and Mary Osva Echols Huffman.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Jane Huffman Prescott and husband, Thomas Prescott, of New York and Eva Huffman Boone, of Bedford; and two brothers, Marion Huffman and Frank B. Huffman Jr.
She was a member of Blacksburg United Methodist Church, worked with the Red Cross blood mobile for 16 years, and volunteered in the pharmacy at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Virginia graduated from Virginia Tech in 1941 with Home Economics and Science Degrees. She was married to Robert F. Farrier for 61 years who is predeceased since June 11, 2003.
She leaves her beloved children, Judith F. Eaton, of Kingsport, Tenn., Mary F. Bouknight and her husband, Brady, of Irmo, S.C. and Robert Farrier Jr. and his wife, Carrol, of Salem, Va.; two granddaughters and their husbands; five great-grandchildren of Tennessee; nieces and nephews, of Bedford; a very special niece and husband, Barbara Boone Witt and John, of Bedford; many other special nieces and nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Virginia C. Barger and husband, C.D., Mary Lee Farrier and Evelyn Mitchell and husband, Walton.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 2 until service time Friday, at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
