McAlster “Mac” Hugo Charlton, Jr., 66, of Radford, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014. He was a United States Army Veteran of 19 years and worked as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Radford for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, McAlster H. Charlton Sr. and Edith Alexander Charlton.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Joanna Browne Charlton; sons and daughter-in-law, McAlster Charlton, III of Radford, Daniel Lee and Heather Browne of Missouri, Michael Charlton of Radford, and Nathaniel Charlton of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Michael Concepcion of Maryland, Angie Phillips of Maryland, and Heather Browne and Clark Boyd of Blacksburg; brothers, Stanley Charlton and Phillip Charlton both of Radford; sister Carmelita Bishop of Radford;eight grandchildren,one great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014at the Radford Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Dickerson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive friends following the burial in the church fellowship hall.
