Richardson, William Webster

William (Bill) Webster Richardson, age 60, of Blacksburg, died of cancer, on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Washington, D.C. on August 11, 1954 to the late Bill and Louise Richardson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Richardson and is survived by his son, Erick D’Avignon, of Austin TX., his brother, Chuck Richardson, of Salt Lake City, UT. He grew up in Arlington, Va. and chose Blacksburg as his home after graduating from Virginia Tech. Bill was active in the local old time music scene, where he was founder and leader of the Jugbusters band. He worked for thirty years at Virginia Tech. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chatham Hill Cemetery, Rich Valley, Smyth County, Va. A memorial gathering will be held in Blacksburg at a later date.
