McCoy, Clarence Creed

Clarence Creed McCoy, 96, of McCoy, died on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery. He was born in McCoy, Va., on December 23, 1917, to the late Creed Alfred and Grace Fagg McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Cleo McCoy; a daughter, Esther McCoy Huff; and a stepson, Steve Hodge.

Clarence was a loyal servant, which exemplified his faith in God. He retired from Virginia Tech Electric Service after many years of service. He is survived by his wife, and faithful companion of 45 years, Louise Sweeney McCoy, of McCoy; two daughters, Janice M. Gamberg of Christiansburg, and Teresa Thompson of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law, Gary W. and Jane McCoy of Blacksburg; one son-in-law, Winfred Huff of Christiansburg; one stepdaughter, Connie Richardson and husband, Kenny of Christiansburg; one stepdaughter-in-law, Marsha Hodge of McCoy; one sister, Melita McCoy of McCoy; eight grandchildren, Kathy Robertson, Dale Huff, Howard Gamberg, Leonard Gamberg, Jan Dickerhoff, Amy Ruppert, Tracy McCoy, and Jeremy Jones; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Gwinn and Patrick Hodge; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held privately at the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, McCoy, Va. Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 240 Watson Ave., Blacksburg, VA 24060. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg, Va.
