Sherman, Doris Edna

Doris Edna Sherman, age 79, of Wake Forest died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 2, 1934 to the late Thomas and Helen Washington and was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer C. Sherman. She is survived by her daughters, Marvis “Sissy” Hopkins, Tina Richmond, both of Christiansburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Wilbur and Darlene Washington, James – Sug and Mamie Broome, all of Christiansburg, Donald and Shelly Broome of Wilmington, NC, Tyrone and Niki Sherman of Texas. Doris raised two of her grandchildren as her own, Tiffany Sherman and Robert Sherman; God Child, Devon Sherman. She is also survived by her sister, Dot Phillips of New Jersey; special nephews, Eric Phillips of Christiansburg, James Phillips of Philadelphia, PA; fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hiawatha Spraggins and Rev. David Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the McCoy Funeral Home, , 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
