Fields, Ina Connell Conner

Ina Connell Conner Fields, age 95, of Tazewell, Va., departed this life Monday, March 17, 2008 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, W.Va. Born March 24, 1913 in Floyd County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Andrew Conner and Susie Conner Thompson.

On October 9, 1945 she was united in marriage to Luther Fields. She was a life long member of Midway Church of Christ in Tazewell, Va. where she worked faithfully and served as a devoted member of the church choir for many years. Ina worked as dietitian at the old Jeffersonville Hospital and the Tazewell Community Hospital for many years. Prior to her extended stay at Kegley Manor of Bastian, Va., Ina was a productive and well loved member of the Tazewell and Bland County communities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Fields and her loving son, Billy.

She is survived by her loving caretaker and cousin, Minnie Harris of Rocky Gap, Va.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Evangelist Marviene Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Pallbearers will be the Rev. Powell Saunders, Beverly Smith, Robert Davis, Coy D. Saunders, William D. Harris, and James Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers will be Hubert Moore, Lee Tynes, Eugene Davis, George Tynes, and Sam Watkins Jr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 21, 2008 after 12:00 noon.
