Frazier, Charles S.

Charles Scott “Bus” Frazier, 96, of Salem, formerly of Peterstown, W.Va., died peacefully Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke.

Born May 15, 1911 in Giles County he was the youngest of ten children born to David Erastus and Florence Elizabeth Beasley Frazier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Trent Frazier after 64 years of marriage, whom he met while working in the CCC Camp in Wise County, Va.; one son, Charles Scott Frazier Jr., in infancy; four brothers: Tobe, Conji, Sipe, and Jim Frazier and five sisters: Susan Cline, Kimmie Lucas, Minnie and Nellie Frazier.

At age 17 Mr. Frazier joined the Kathleen Memorial Methodist Church, at Wolf Creek. He worked in the logging business, was proprietor of the mill in Peterstown, W.Va., operated the Amoco station in Glyn Lyn, Va., worked for the furniture store in Rich Creek, Va., Broyles Funeral Home in Peterstown, sold monuments, constructed homes, sold storm doors and windows. Mr. Frazier was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving with the Military Police guarding prisoners of war. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. He retired from Celanese in 1973 after twenty years in the Staple Fiber Department and moved to Salem, Va., there he worked as Assistant Manager for the apartment complex where they lived until age 85.

Survivors include: Two daughters, Dr. Theresa ?Gaye? Frazier Lee of Mechanicsville, Va., and Deloris Aileen ?Dee? Nuckols and husband Dave of Lynchburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Scott Douglas Bailey of Washington, D.C., Terry Lynn Collins and husband Kevin of Alexandria, Va., and Robert White of Lynchburg, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Frazier Collins and Michael Bailey Collins; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va.
