Sutphin, Cecile Dehart

Cecile is survived by her son, Jonathan David Sutphin, of Dawsonville, Ga.; as well as her granddaughters, Kathy Crews (Jim), Robin McDonald (Benny) and Dawn Kenney (Mike); and greatgrandchildren, Katlyn Crews, Jamie Crews and Wesley McDonald. She is preceded in death by her mother, Phedetta DeHart; and her brother, Esley Ayers. She was a teacher, department head and assistant vice-principal for South Dade High School in Florida for 30 years. She earned her Doctorate in Education. Upon retirement, she received a key to the city of Homestead, Fla. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and collecting antique glassware. Her family will receive friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd. A church service to celebrate her life will be led by Dr. Jim Crews, 11 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011, at Slate Mountain Presbyterian Church with a graveside service to follow in Slate Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Embracing Hospice, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041.
