Semones, Mary Deffinbargh

Mary Ann Deffinbaugh Semones, 88, of Staffordsville, entered into peaceful sleep on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at her home.

She was born in Covington on December 28, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Pauline Seldomridge Deffinbaugh. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Otis Semones; one brother, six sisters, two sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law, and two great-grandsons.

She was a member of New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church in Staffordsville.

She is survived by a son, Fred L. Semones, of New Castle; six daughters, Linda S. Hosey, of Gloucester, Mrs. Wayne (Frankie) Haley, of Newport News, Mrs. Danny (Betty) Kendall, of New Castle, Mrs. James (Dorcas) Martin, of Barstow, Calif., Sue S. Lawson, of Staffordsville, and Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Richards, of Jacksonville, N.C.; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two sisters, Lillian Carpenter, of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Betty Hensley, of Semmes, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 9, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Bryan Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
