Ferguson, Ruth Irene

Ruth Irene Ferguson, 93, born in Medina, Ohio, raised in the area of Summit County, Ohio, lived the last 30 years of her life in Blacksburg, Va. She was the daughter of Emmett Goodson and Ella May Cain of Galax, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Maxwell Ferguson, of Bath, Ohio.

She is survived by her children, Donald Maxwell Ferguson Jr. and Joann Ruth Ferguson Boles, both of Blacksburg, Va.; by her grandchildren, Ian Ferguson, of Blacksburg, Va., and Sean Ferguson, of Yokohama, Japan; her siblings, Inez Lyell, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Alice Pinegar, of Huntersville, N.C., Joyce Cross, of Canton, Ohio, and Emmett Goodson, of Uniontown, Ohio.

She was an accomplished team player as daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an RN graduate of the Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing in Akron, Ohio. Her working career was as a public health nurse with the city of Akron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army P.O. Box 762, Christiansburg, Va. 24068 or the Warm Hearth Foundation, 2607 Warm Hearth Drive, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. Memorial services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 20,08, in the McCoy Funeral Home 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, with the Rev. Barbara Taylor officiating.
