Collins, Margie Houck

Margie Houck Collins, 83, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2008, in River Oaks Hospital in Jackson, Miss.

She was born on November 29, 1924, in Valdese, N.C., the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J.G. Houck of Christiansburg. She was a member of the West Radford Church of God and retired from Hampton Textile Mills in Kinston, N.C. She made Christiansburg her home for 25 years before moving to Jackson, Miss. She was a loving mother and her warmth and compassion inspired us all.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, George Collins. She is survived by two daughters and sonsin-law, Patsy and the Rev. Ken Hall, of Jackson, Miss., and Judy and William Clements, of Hilton Head, S.C.; one granddaughter, Kendra Hall, of Jackson, Miss.; one sister, Lavada “Dickie” Garber, of Christiansburg; two brothers, the Rev. Ken Houck, of Clearwater, Fla., and Ted Houck, of Harrison, Mich. She also leaves a loving family of nieces, nephews and cousins who will dearly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the West Radford Church of God with the Rev. Ken Hall, Pastor Arthur Harris and the Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg with the Rev. Terry Hart of Little Rock, Ark. officiating.
