Shannon, Betty Jean

Betty Jean Shannon, 70, of Narrows, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008, at her home.

She was born February 1, 1938, at Elgood, W.Va., the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Clemons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Howard Shannon; and a son, John Shannon.

She is survived by two daughters, Ethel and Al Ferrell and Ester and Paul Blakenship, all of Narrows; one son, Herbert (Jimmy) Shannon, of Narrows; two sisters, Frances and husband, Phillip Parcell, Rich Creek, and Evelyn and husband, Chuck Reedy, Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Jessica and Crystal Ferrell, Louise Shannon, Rachel, Carl, Hope and Jennifer McAllister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate with the Rev. Kelly Jones officiating. Burial in the Clemons Cemetery, Elgood, W.Va. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 25, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. Arrangements by A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va.
