Price, Glen Howard

Glen Howard Price, 71, of Blacksburg, died Monday, February 18, 2008, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, Va., on December 31, 1936, to the late Guy Lewis and Anna Mae Slusser Price; and was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Glen Price; and a brother, Jack Percy Price.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Atkins Price; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and David Akers, of Christiansburg; and a very special grandson he dearly loved and adored, Tanner Akers, whom his granddaddy always referred to as “my little buddy.” Survived also by his brother, Frank “Gene” Price and wife, Carolyn, of Daleville, Va.; sister-in-law, Janice Price, of Craig; Shelby Stiff, Shirley Whittaker, Peggy Maxey and husband, Harold, Virginia Ratcliff, Frankie McCormick and husband, Ronnie, all of Giles County, Doris Jackson and husband, Eldie, of Peterstown, W.Va.; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; dear and close friends, Justin Boyle, Thatch Winslow, and Bruce Fugate, the Rev. Dick Gilbert and many very special friends too numerous to mention.

Glen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and a special friend to many. He enjoyed farming and working his cattle. He loved spending time with his grandson and teaching him things about farming.

A very special thanks to Dr. McCoy and the staff of Carilion Hospice, the Doctors and staff of the ICU at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dick Gilbert and the Rev. Rador Vaden and will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carilion Hospice of the New River Valley, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, Va. 24141.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg, Va.
