Hicks, Joy Maloyed Russell

Joy Maloyed Russell Hicks, 70, of Richmond, died March 8, 2006 in Richmond, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruby Maloyed of Saltville, Va., son George “Max” Russell of New York, and brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Jean Maloyed of Greensboro, N.C.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Hicks of Chesterfield, Va.; two sons, John “Mil” Russell and Robert “Robbie” Russell of Pulaski, Va.; one daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Collins of Pulaski, Va.; two grandsons, Russell Collins and Michael Russell of Pulaski, Va.; and one granddaughter, Kristina Collins of Pulaski, Va.; one great-grandson, Devon; three brothers, Ronald (Dottie) Maloyed of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Lowell E. Maloyed of Mt. Washington, Ken., John (J. W.) Maloyed of Colonial Heights, Va.; one sister, Gail (Pete) Campbell of Marion, Va.; a sister-in-law, Emily Hicks of Norfolk, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Ridgedale Methodist Church at Chatham Hill, Va., with the Rev. Paul Jones and Pastor Ernest “Skeeter” Yeatts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Ridgedale United Methodist Church or to the Cancer Society. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.
