Poe, Elvin D.
Elvin D. Poe, 82, passed away December 8, 2007.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Yvonne; brother, Raymond Poe; and daughter, Lisa Poe. He is survived by his son and daughter-in law, Stanley and Maureen Poe; his grandson, Adam Poe; and his daughter, Karen L. Poe.
Elvin was born and raised in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Howard and Louise Wulff Poe. In 1942, on his 17th birthday, he joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific. After serving honorably, he joined the Los Angeles Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Fire Captain.
In 1977, he retired and moved with his family to Snowville, Va., where he remained until his passing. While in Snowville, he served on the Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Snowville Ruritan Club.
As he wished, he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered along with his wife’s at a later date.
Very dear thanks to family friends, Kenneth and Carolyn Harrell, and his very capable caregivers, Charlotte and Amanda Grimm.
DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, handled the arrangements.
