Farmer, William Eugene

William (Cotton) Eugene Farmer, 81, of Christiansburg, passed away early Thursday January 24, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Dochia Farmer; children, Eunice Elaine Farmer and Nathan Edwin Farmer; brothers, Henry, Zack, Arthur and Clinon Farmer; and a sister, Mary Furrow.

He retired from Burlington Industries in Radford in 1986. He also was an Ordained Minister and pastored the Montevista Church of God and the Childress Church of God, which he continued attending until his death. He was a loving husband and father, who devoted his life to his family & to serving the Lord.

He is survived by his living wife of 61 years, Martha Smith Farmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Dallas and Barbara Farmer, Coby and Vicky Farmer, and Steven and Barbara Farmer; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Phillip Lester, and Etta and Chris Carter; sister, Elizabeth Poff; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday January 26, 2008, at the Childress Church of God, with the Rev. Ronnie Duncan and the Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Big Sand Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
