Saukel, Aloysius Henry

Aloysius Henry Saukel, 84, of Blacksburg, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on November 10, 1921 to the late John Adam and Crescentia Ammer Saukel. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from PEPCO after 30 years.

He is survived by his devoted companion of 18 years, Dorothy Fulks of Blacksburg; two daughters, Betty Jane Gardner of Sykesville, Md., Carolyn Fregetto of Gwinn, Mich.; a son, Aloysius Henry Saukel, Jr. of Pierre, S.D.; two sisters, Anna Barbara Plage of Albuquerque, N.M., Virginia Catherine (Jean) Romano of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; a brother, Otto Benedict Saukel of Pittsburgh, Pa.; grandchildren, Bruce Edward Gardner, Jr., Janie Herrick, Michelle Diane Kostuch, Joseph Howard Fregetto, Christie Ann Young, Dakota Ashlee Saukel, Aneliese Crescentia Saukel, Zeke Konrad Saukel; five great grandchildren; companions children, Sherry Pettry, George L. Fulks, Jr., Dana Rollison, Richard Fulks; companions family, Ervin Helms, Rudy Helms, Don Helms, and Sam Helms.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 7 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jim Arsenault officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg Rescue Squad, 200 Progress Street, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
