Tennis, June Ellen Hardy

June Ellen Hardy Tennis, 79, of Pulaski, Va. died Dec. 30, 2007 at her home. She was born in Pulaski on June 1, 1928 and was the youngest child of the late John B. and Rhoda Kersey Hardy.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Luther, Everette and Eldridge and by two sisters, Marie H. Rogers and Edith H. Rush.

Ms. Tennis was a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Air Force where she was a RN (maternity nurse) until she became a nurse anesthetist. In her 20 years of service in the Air Force she served all around the world.

Surviving are: her long-time companion, Marylynn (Wickie) Harris, Pulaski; sister, Frances H. Lookabill, Pulaski; brother, Richard K. Hardy, Ravenswood, West Va.; many nieces and nephews; friend, Carl Gregory, Pulaski.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel, Pulaski with Rev. Hugh Kilgore and Dave Lookabill officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning at Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
