Hansbrough, Shirley Caldwell

Shirley Patricia Caldwell Hansbrough, 62, of Yorktown, Va., entered into Heaven on Saturday, December 22, 2007. She was a much loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She was born in Blacksburg, Va., to her late parents, Ralph and Lutitia Caldwell and spent most of her life on the Hampton Roads Peninsula. She was an accomplished craftsperson in crossstitching and collected handmade baskets and teddy bears of all varieties.

She was a devoted member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hampton, Va., having served as a member of Council, Sunday school teacher and Superintendent. She was active in her community, serving a President of the Hampton Junior Women’s Club and on the Board of the Girl’s Club of Hampton.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Andrew Jerry Hansbrough, of Raytown; her sons, Andrew K. Hansbrough and wife, Mary, of Blacksburg, Michael E. Hansbrough and wife, Tracy, of Newport News and Sean C. Hansbrough, a junior at Virginia Tech; and her four cherished granddaughters, Alyssa, Madysen, Erin and Kayla. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph S. Caldwell and wife, Ruth; and a sister Brenda Ealy and her husband, Roger, of Smithfield, Va. We will always love and cherish her in our hearts.

The family requests that memorials be made to either the organ fund of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hampton or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007, in the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery.

A memorial service will he held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
