December 21, 2007 marked the end of an era when Mae Elizabeth (Lizzy) Sweeney forever closed her kitchen as she prepared for her heavenly journey. She was known as a mother to many and a friend to all. Granny never turned anyone away who was in need of a meal and a friendly smile. She had a great love for children and flowers, as well as a kind but directness with advice and counsel.
Lizzy completed her journey here as she prepared for a homecoming with family and friends that preceded her. We are challenged to keep her spirit alive by sharing the gift of kindness and love she embodied. She was a lady of integrity, a role model of strength, as well as a lighthouse and safe haven to her family. She will live forever in our hearts as we look forward to a heavenly reunion with her. We love you.
