Spangler, Reba Tipton
Reba Tipton Spangler, 85, of Bradenton, Florida and formerly of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2007. She was born in Radford on November 21, 1921 and was the daughter of the late James Elbert and Ocie Ola Lowman Tipton. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, D.D. (Bud) Spangler; four brothers, Tom Tipton, Earnest Tipton, Guy Tipton and Dan Tipton and two sisters, Claire T. Riffe and Myrtle Hughes.
A graduate of Radford College (University), Reba taught Chemistry and Physics at schools in Giles County, Pulaski County and at Southeast High School in Bradenton, Florida. She was also a Past Worthy Matron of Lakeland Chapter #74 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Narrows. She attended New Valley Fellowship in Narrows and the Church of the Nazarene Bayshore in Bradenton and was a member of Island Baptist Church on Anna Maria Island, Florida.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Garland S. and Carolyn Spangler of Bradenton; three grandchildren, Jason, Natalie and Clay Spangler; one sister, Betty T. Ufkes of Muncie, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows, with Pastor D. J. Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
