Garvin G. (Slim/Rock) Gravley died on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Pulaski, Va. He was born on December 14, 1919 to Edgbert C. Gravley and Mary Gertrude McHone Gravley in Parrott, Va.

He was veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II as an aircraft traffic control officer on board a USS carrier. He retired from Lynchburg Foundry in Radford, Va. after 35 years of service.

He was predeceased by one brother, Edward Lee Gravley and is survived by two brothers, Grover M. Gravley and wife, Ocie, of Belspring, Va. and Edrel E. Gravley and wife, Peggy, of Fairlawn, Va. He is also survived by two nieces, Lisa Gravley Brown and husband, Paul, of Roanoke, Va. and Kathy Gravley of Dublin, Va.; one nephew, Edward Dean Gravley of Dublin, Va.; and one great-nephew, Noah Harmon Brown of Roanoke, Va. Also surviving is his extended family of Susie Bell Peters of Dublin, Va., Janice C. Martin (Pooney) of Radford, Va., Ashley Mooney and her son, Trey Wyatt, of Dublin, Va. and Amber Mooney and her children, Malaki and Kieera, of Dublin, Va.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford, Va. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael Duncan at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at DeVilbiss Funeral Home with interment following at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Va. The care from the staff of Pulaski Health Care Center is greatly appreciated. The family is being served by DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford, Va.
