Beckner, Jeffrey Lynn

Jeffrey Lynn Beckner, 53, of Draper, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, May 22, 2014, at his home in Draper. He was born December 5, 1960 in Roanoke.

Jeff retired from Radford Arsenal with 15 years of service. In addition, he and his wife Jana were the owners of Lakeview Construction Services where Jeff designed and constructed many beautiful log cabins throughout the area. One of the highlights of his career was participating in the building of the first log home on the Extreme Home Makeover television program. He received degrees in Instrumentation & Electronics Technology and Applied Science from New River Community College.

Jeff was a member of the Draper’s Valley Presbyterian Church where he served as a former Deacon. Jeff was a devoted and loving husband and father who always put his family and faith first. He was an avid outdoors sportsman enjoying fishing, hiking, and canoeing. As a former athlete, he loved coaching little league.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Doris Beckner and his niece, Jamie Beckner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Jana Worrell Beckner; and his beloved son, Jacob Landon Beckner of the home. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Sylvia Beckner of Copperhill, and Larry and Cheryl Beckner of Roanoke; nieces and nephews Cindy Beckner of Copperhill, Brian and Kathryn Beckner of Richmond, and Amy Beckner of Roanoke; mother-in-law Carol Smith of Pulaski; father-in-law and wife Terry and Doris Worrell of Max Meadows.

He will also be sadly missed by Jana’s large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Jeff is also survived by his very special friends Pete and Betty Capaldini. He will always be remembered for his kind spirit, his sense of humor, and Christian love that he extended to everyone he met.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the Draper’s Valley Presbyterian Church on 2755 Old Baltimore Road, Draper, VA with Rev. Bob Davis and Rev. Michael Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall following the service.
