Stanberry, James Clifford

James Clifford Stanberry, 80, of Dublin, went to be with the Lord February 20, 2006 in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford, after a long illness.

He was born in Smyth County on February 2, 1926 and was the son of the late Hugh Coy Stanberry and Arrilla Moser Stanberry Cannon. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Stanberry served four years in the United States Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church and was an employee of Hercules, Inc. for 38 years.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Nora Strouth Stanberry, Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, David Ray and Sandra Stanberry, Dublin; special granddaughter, Monica Kay Stanberry, Dublin; stepsisters, Thelma Griffets, Chilhowie, Dorris Attewell, Groseclose, Va., Barbara Burton, Marion; stepbrother, Robert Cannon, Lynchburg.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Dublin Baptist Church with Dr. David Hoagland and the Rev. Scott Shartzer officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visiting will be Wednesday evening at the Dublin Baptist Church where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
