Schwartz, Frank Lewis

Frank Lewis Schwartz, a dedicated oral and facial surgeon who touched the lives of many, peacefully passed away on May 23, 2024 in Christiansburg. Born on January 9, 1937, Frank devoted his life to caring for others and creating cherished memories with his loved ones.

Frank’s journey in the medical field was marked by excellence and compassion. He graduated from Maryland Dental School and completed an internship at Mount Sinai before embarking on a fulfilling career that spanned decades. In 2005, Frank retired as an esteemed oral and facial surgeon, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and skill.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Frank found joy in various facets of life. He shared special moments with his son Frank Jr. through scouting activities, culminating in the prestigious Order of the Arrow recognition. An Army veteran, Frank served his country with honor and dedication.

In his leisure time, Frank reveled in the outdoors, particularly at Claytor Lake where he indulged in water skiing and boating. His love for adventure and nature shone brightly through these cherished pastimes.

Among his proudest achievements was establishing a successful practice in Northern VA before relocating to the Blacksburg area. There, he continued his passion for dentistry and oral surgery in Christiansburg, impacting countless individuals with his expertise and kind heart.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara Schwartz, who stood by his side through every triumph and challenge. His memory will forever be cherished by his children: Lisa Schwartz, Lauren Marshman (and husband Mike), Frank Schwartz Jr. (and wife Tracy), John Schwartz (and wife Amy), Stephanie Dubyk (and husband Jon), Megan Hancock (and husband Tyler), as well as his 20 grandchildren and great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hyman Schwartz and Gertrude Franklin Schwartz and sister Louise.
