Ballou, Rebecca Marie

Rebecca Marie Ballou, a disabled adult, lucky enough to get a Medicaid waiver ten years ago, died peacefully on 4/19/2024. She was born on 3/7/1965 in Christiansburg, Virginia to her beloved parents, Charles Ballou, and Pearl Marie Ballou who predeceased her.

Christiansburg residents will fondly remember her walking to church, and school, and shopping with her parents, sister, or nieces. Her sister, Brenda Ballou also predeceased her. After her mother died and her father grew too sick to care for her, Becky moved to Bland, Virginia, and then Pulaski, Virginia where she lived in the homes of loving caretakers, Angela Long and Bonna Lawrence.

Becky loved music, McDonalds, baby dolls, stuffed animals, chocolate milk shakes, Dr. Pepper, cupcakes mushed into ice cream, lunches out with her niece, Mary Alice, at Cracker Barrel, driving anywhere, cheering for Pulaski sports teams, going to church, and floating in the therapy pool at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center

Becky is survived by nieces, Sherry Harless, Mary Harless, Uncle, Raymond Hylton, Aunt, Mildred Jones, great nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday May 5 at 6 PM following a visitation from 5 to 6PM, at the New Hope Church, NRV, 3050 N. Lee Highway, Pulaski, VA. Burial will be Monday, May 6, 2 PM at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA.

Donations may be made in Becky’s memory to the ARC of the NRV.
