Bradley, Sr., James M.

James M. Bradley, Sr. 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2024. Jim, as he was known to friends and family, was born on December 9, 1951 in Lebanon, NH to Robert L. Bradley, Sr. and Beverly M. (Raymond) Bradley.

He was married to Sandra A. Hughes in 1969 and graduated from Southwick High School in Southwick, MA in 1970. Jim was a talented carpenter and in 1978 he moved to Maine with his wife and two oldest children to build his homestead and a small gentleman’s farm. Once in Maine, they had two more children. He worked at various sawmills, woolen mills and leather/textile mills throughout his life and in the latter years worked in carpentry/home construction. He enjoyed woodworking and we will all cherish the various gifts he created for us over the years. Family was everything to him and he loved us all unconditionally. He had a love for the outdoors, music and had the best sense of humor. He was always the life of the party. Once you met him, he was your friend for life.

Jim and Sandy divorced just before their 20th Anniversary, but remained good friends until the end. In 2004 he married Denise Wessinger. Jim battled and beat colon cancer in 2011 – 2012. The toll it took on him made the harsh Maine winters difficult, and in 2014 he and Denise moved to Virginia. This move allowed him to be closer to his parents and four of his brothers and allowed him to be able to help care for his parents into their 90’s.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Bradley, of VA, his first wife, Sandra Hughes, of ME, his children, Tammy (& Christopher) Creswell, Adam (& Jessi) Bradley and Sarah Bradley, all of ME and David Wessinger and Melina Wessinger both of VA. Fourteen grandchildren, Alycia (& Andrew) Reed, Jeffrey Ludden, Jacob Bickford, Hannah Bradley, Rachel Creswell, Kaileigh Clowry, Joshua Creswell, Mason Pelletier, Jackson Bradley, Jayden Bradley, Brandy McRobbie, Samantha McRobbie, Leilani Corali and Alex Corali. Five great-grandchildren, Oakley Ludden, Brinley Ludden, Avery Reed (due in April), Asher and Logan. He is also survived by his siblings Lanie Edson (& James Morgan), VT, Gary (& Linda) Bradley, VA, David (& Patti) Bradley, CA, Douglas (& Darlene) Bradley, CT, Ricky Bradley, VA and Timothy Bradley, VA. He leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews scattered all over the country and a lifelong friend, Peter Hughes.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, one son, James M. Bradley, Jr., a daughter, Amy McRobbie, a grandson, Thomas McRobbie, and brothers Dennis Bradley and Robert Bradley, Jr..
Celebrations of Life will be held in the Spring in Virginia and later in Maine. He will be laid to rest in Morse’s Corner Cemetery in Corinna, Maine next to his beloved son, Jay.
