Akers, Robin Hayes

Robin Hayes Akers, 68, of Dublin, VA, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 at Highland Ridge Rehab Center. She was born November 28, 1955 in Radford, VA, the daughter of Gerald & Lillie Mae Goins Hayes.

Robin was family oriented, very kind and found the good in everybody. She loved to laugh. She worked as a geriatric nurse for many years. She loved all animals and always had a pet dog.

Robin was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Victor Goins, Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. Charles Hayes, her sister-in-law, Tammy Hayes and several aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 50+ years, Jackie Lee Akers, Sr.; her sons & daughters-in-law, Jackie, Jr. (“ Jay”) & Betty Akers and James Adam & Tiffany Akers; her daughter, Jennifer Akers & Jon Schrades; her grandchildren, Taylor Akers, Jordan Akers, Kaylie Rakes and Michael Rakes; her parents, Gerald (“Jerry”) Morrice & Lillie Mae Goins Hayes; her brothers & sister-in-law, Gerald, Jr. & Bonnie Hayes and Charles (“Chuck”) Hayes; sister, Barbara Hayes; her special beloved pet companions, “Pablo” and “Little Bit” and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, special friends and the rest of the bunch.

Per her wishes, Robin has been cremated. A special memorial visitation service will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
