Szabo, Dennis John

Dennis John Szabo, of Pembroke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2023, at the age of 76 in Roanoke, Virginia. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on April 4, 1947, to the late Alexander Szabo and Erszabet Burdiga Szabo (Betty), he grew up with a passion for life that was evident to all who knew him.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Perren‐ Szabo, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. He was the proud father of sons Chris Szabo and Lee Perren, who, along with his wife, Alanna, brought much joy to his life. His daughters, Emmy Perren (husband, William Brooks) and Laura Perren, were the light of his days. His grandchildren, Cianna Perren and Bradley Szabo, along with his great-grandson, Eli Szabo, filled his heart with immense pride and happiness. Dennis also leaves behind a sister, Andrea Bradshaw.

Dennis’ career as a skilled electrician with IBEW Local 400 spanned decades, during which he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his dedication and expertise. His commitment to his craft was matched only by his involvement in his community, where he was known for his willingness to lend a hand and share his knowledge with those in need.

A hard-working man, Dennis’ family was cornerstone of his life. He always told them that he would do anything to take care of them. And he worked as many hours at home as he did at work caring for the family home and automobiles.

Dennis enjoyed tinkering with motors and computers, a testament to his inquisitive and problem-solving nature. He was a familiar face at local car shows, where he loved to engage with fellow enthusiasts and admire the craftsmanship of the good ol’ days.

Moreover, Dennis found joy in the simpler pleasures of life, like the company of his pet chickens. He would often be seen tending to them, ensuring they were as well-cared-for as any member of his family. His gentle and nurturing spirit was a trait that endeared him to all living creatures.

The memory of Dennis John Szabo will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and laughter he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he gave freely. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he has left behind.

There will be a memorial service and mass held at a later date. A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Szabo family.
