McGhee, Nancy Jett

Nancy Jett McGhee, 91 of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2023. Nancy was born on February 19, 1932, in Galax, VA and was a daughter of the late Ernest Wartman Jett and Lelia Ferne Williams Jett. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lawery Allen “Pete” McGhee, her daughter in law, Deborah Mullins McGhee and her beloved dog Gretchen.

Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Fries High School and attended 2 years at Radford College. She worked several years at Virginia Limestone in Ripplemead. She was a member of the Narrows First United Methodist Church for over 60 years, serving in numerous capacities during that time.

She is survived by her children, Allen McGhee of South Boston, Kimberly M. Shrader (Joseph) of Narrows, 3 grandchildren & Spouses, Hannah Shrader Sewell (Erick), Scott Shrader (Meg), Meagan Martin, 4 great grandchildren, Lucy & Kimber Jo Sewell, Jax & Lila Martin and 2 sisters, Susanne Dennis of Salem, and Rebecca Williams of St. Augustine, FL.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11am at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows with the Rev. Douglas Armstrong officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church 1 hour before the service from 10 – 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Narrows First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 398, Narrows, VA 24124.
