Marshall, George B.
George B. Marshall, age 96 of Allisonia, VA went to be with the Lord and the love of his life, Madelin (wife of 72 years) on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Born June 1,1927 to the late Harley Marshall and Pherbe Bonds Marshall.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Madelin S. Marshall; his son Gary G. Marshall; his stepmother Bessie Marshall; his brothers Alvin, Tommy and Harley; sisters Paul Ena Anderson and Faye Marshall.
He leaves behind his son Larry (Connie) Marshall; daughter Janice (Gene) Holt; grandchildren Michael (Windy) Marshall, Jeff (Paige) Marshall, Karri Queen, Kyle (Summer) Scaggs, Sara (Pip) Cornish, Kevin (Michelle) Marshall and Beth (Dwayne) Caldwell; 16 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.
George operated Marshall’s Store in Allisonia, Virginia for 63 years. During WW II he worked as a welder, repairing Liberty Ships. He loved to travel and had visited all but three states. He was a deacon of Farris Mines Christian Church and was known for his acts of kindness in the community.
The family will receive friends between 5:00-7:00 PM – Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM – Tuesday, December 5,2023 at the Farris Mines Christian Church with Pastor Ray Bolen officiating. Interment will follow at the Farris Mines Christian Church Cemetery.

I am sorry to learn of the death of Mr. Marshall. Members of his family are close friends of mine and I offer my deep sympathy. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall were well known for their kindness in the Allisonia community and will long be remembered.

Mr. Marshall always treated me as family when I visited with Janice. I took my daughter by to visit at the store years later, he and Mrs. Marshall were always the the same. Always had a bottle of coke to quinch your thirst. Have such good memories.
