Davis, Cynthia Dawn

Cynthia Dawn Davis, 48, of Blacksburg, died, Monday, July 2, 2007 at MCV Hospital in Richmond. She was born in Radford, Va. on September 4, 1958. She was preceded in death by her father, William Carden; a sister, Brenda Carden; and father-in-law, Tommy Davis.

She worked at the Physics Department at Virginia Tech for over 20 years. She was a member of Virginia Tech Hokie Club.

She is survived by her husband, Forrest D. Davis of Blacksburg; one son, William Clay Cherokee Davis of Blacksburg; mother, Betty Kirkner Carden of Fairlawn; four sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Randy Coakley, Tracy and Joe Osborne, Taunya Gardner, all of Spotsylvania, and Stephanie Orange of Christiansburg; three brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Valli Davis, Duke and Jennifer Gardner, all of Spotsylvania; Stephen and Jennifer Davis of Blacksburg, mother-in-law, Mary Gardner of Spotsylvania; father-in-law, James Gardner of Spotsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 6, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Life Community Church, 1850 Electric Way, Christiansburg with Pastor Doug Martin and Pastor Doug Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hospital Hospitality House, 612 East Marshall Street, Richmond, VA 23219, or to the Life Community Church, P.O. Box 2099, Christiansburg, VA 24068. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, July 5, 2007 at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
