Blankenship, James William
James William Blankenship died on October 28, 2023 at his home. Born on September 24, 1941 he was the son of the late Harold Thomas, Sr. and Elizabeth Wymer Blankenship.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1962 to 1965. He worked for American Electric Power, retiring after 35 years of service. In retirement, Jim kept busy as a tour bus driver for Sunshine Tour, Pulaski Area Transit and in 2009 he went to work for FEMA. His ten years with FEMA allowed him serve those affected by natural disasters, and he met many people in the organization with whom he kept in contact. Jim was a faithful member of Faith Bible Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara, daughters, Jennifer K Blankenship, son-in-law Jeffrey W Repass; Jeanette B. Jones (Jeff), grandson Chief Navy Counselor Adam L Jones (Krystal) of Grovetown, Georgia, twin granddaughters Kenley E Jones of Charlotte, NC and Audrey J Phillips (Sam) of Shawsville, VA. and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are his longtime friend and companion of many adventures Gary Meade and wife Vicky. Jim is survived by siblings Rebecca Brim (Kenneth), Michelle Blankenship and sister-in-law Jean Blankenship; his brother Harold Thomas predeceased him in 2020.
A time of visitation with the family will be on Friday, November 3 at Seagle Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jim Linkous beginning at 11:00 am. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Thornspring Cemetery.
