Memitt, Jr., William Insley

William Insley Memitt, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 69, surrounded by the love of his family, listening to “Amazing Grace” and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

Born on December 11, 1953, Bill was the son of the late William I. Memitt, Sr. and Mildred Louise Lester Memitt. He was a beloved and long-time resident of Christiansburg, Virginia. He was not only a master electrician, master plumber, and HVAC guru but also a skilled musician, horse trainer, and a man of many other talents. Bill’s professional expertise was matched by his ability to create beautiful music that resonated with everyone who listened. Bill’s diverse talents and unwavering love for his family and community made a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to know him.

Bill’s love for his family knew no bounds. He was preceded in death by his parents, but his memory lives on in his loving wife of 24 years, Sandra Memitt, and his adoring daughters, Jessica and Ashlee Memitt. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Tristan Bonds (son of Jessica) and embraced the joy of family life.

In addition to his immediate family, Bill is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Vicki Memitt, Ted and Pam Memitt, and their extended families, including many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He also had a step-daughter, Andrea, and step-grandchildren who held a special place in his heart.

A memorial service led by Pastor James Bradley will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Riner, Virginia. This gathering will serve as an opportunity for friends, neighbors, and loved ones to come together to celebrate Bill’s life, recount cherished memories, and find solace in each other’s company. Food will be served in the fellowship hall following the service.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, let us remember his kindness, talent, and the love he generously shared with us all. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was loved and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
