Akers, Anna Mae
Anna Mae Clark Akers, 85, of the Clendennin Community near Narrows, departed this life Tuesday evening, June 19, 2007 at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.
Born in Pulaski on February 25, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and Ada Robertson Clark. Ann was a member of Bethel Chapel Church in Clendennin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lacy Akers, Sr.; nine brothers, John M., Sherman W., Kenneth J., Arnold Guy, Henry W., Homer C., William H., Eugene, and Charles Clark; a sister, Ruby Aileen Gerren; and a grandson David Ray Blankenship, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert Lacy, Jr. and Lynn Akers of Narrows, Darrell Wayne and Debbie Akers of Narrows, and David Keith and Sandy Akers of Narrows; a daughter and son-in-law, Freda A. and David Blankenship of Narrows; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence R. Clark of Narrows; and two sisters, Charlene (Sally) Clark of Narrows and Virginia C. Robertson of Narrows.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Bethel Chapel Church in the Clendennin Community near Narrows. The family will receive friends at the church Friday evening, June 22, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of arrangements.
