Dillow, Maggie Woodyard
Maggie Woodyard Dillow, 93, of Peterstown, WV, went home to be with the Lord on August 6, 2023, while residing at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Rich Creek, VA. She was born at Whitegate, VA, in the home on August 16, 1929, to her late parents, Joseph Woodyard and Bertie Mae Harrel.
Early in her life, she worked at the Celanese Corporation, Narrows, VA, where she met her husband William Harry Dillow. They were married on January 12, 1948, and lived on Bozoo Road where she enjoyed raising her family of five children. She became a dedicated wife with strong Christian faith leading her children and husband to the Lord. Before becoming ill, Maggie loved reading the Bible daily and was a dedicated member of the Peterstown Christian Church. She developed a love for gardening, embroidering, and sewing. She was a professional seamstress and made beautiful dresses and outfits for her family and many people in the surrounding area. In her younger days, she made the Peterstown High School cheerleader and majorette outfits. Maggie developed a hobby of making beautiful quilts, which she gave most of them to her children and grandchildren. In her middle age, she would babysit for the younger couples in the area. But most importantly of all, was the love for her family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband of 62 years mentioned earlier, as well as daughter Marinda Dillow and granddaughter Michelle White. Survivors include two sisters and one brother, in addition to the following: two daughters, Patricia White (Ted) of Abingdon, VA, Vada Pauline ‘Polly’ Tate of Lexington, S.C.; two sons, William Harry Dillow, Jr. (Pam) of Princeton, WV, and Robert Eugene Dillow (Stacey) of Clarksburg, WV; 9 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren.
The family acknowledges the extreme commitment of the Doctors and Staff at Heritage Hall during the past 5 years in providing excellent care for Maggie. May God bless each one for their love, friendship, compassion, and nursing care extended to Maggie and family over these years. A special thank you to her roommate Peggy Lucas.
